CarpetCareManager
The project that shaped my direction.
My first independently built full-stack business application: a management system for carpet-cleaning businesses covering customers, orders, deliveries, staff access, reporting and PDF documents. I built it as a portfolio project to test whether I could take a complete business application from idea to working product.
Problem
I wanted to explore how the daily workflow of a carpet-cleaning business could be handled inside one application instead of across separate tools. The project became an exercise in designing and building the complete flow myself — from customer and order creation to delivery management, reporting and user access.
Key features
Technical approach
I built the frontend with React and Sass and the backend with Node.js, Express and MySQL. SWR handles client-side data fetching, while JWT and Argon2 are used for authentication. The application includes searchable order management, a three-step order wizard, delivery workflows, PDF generation, business statistics and owner-restricted user management.
What I’d improve
This was my first large self-built application, so parts of the codebase and architecture reflect how I worked at that stage. Today I would structure the frontend and backend more deliberately, introduce clearer reusable modules and contracts, improve test coverage and simplify several implementation patterns. The experience from this project later influenced how I approached the architecture of Luxyco.
