react-lite-daterange
A lightweight date range picker without the dependency chain.
An open-source React date range picker created while I was building advanced date-based filters for Luxyco. I wanted a lightweight component with zero runtime dependencies, configurable shortcuts and localisation support, without bringing a large dependency tree into the application.
Problem
While building date-range filters for Luxyco, I looked through existing React date pickers and found that many depended on additional date libraries or became relatively heavy once shortcuts, multiple months and localisation were required. I wanted a smaller component focused specifically on the features I actually needed.
Key features
Technical approach
I built the component in React and TypeScript with a deliberately focused API and no runtime dependencies. It supports controlled and uncontrolled usage, configurable shortcuts, multiple visible months and locale-aware formatting. Alongside the package, I created a documentation website with an interactive configurator where developers can visually adjust the component and copy the generated configuration directly into their project.
What I’d improve
The package already covers the main use cases I originally needed, but I would continue improving typed date input and locale-specific parsing so manual input follows the selected locale as closely as the calendar display does. I would also continue expanding the configurator as new package options are introduced.
